In 2017, Dr Reinder Nauta and Dr Mandla Moyo founded the National HealthCare Group with a courageous goal – to make private healthcare services affordable and reliable for low-income individuals and employer groups. Fuelled by an investment from Patrice Motsepe's African Rainbow Capital, our journey commenced, marked by groundbreaking offerings like MediClub Connect, Premier and Elite.
Swiftly carving our path, we established a national service provider network with 1,300 doctors and acquired Enablemed in July 2019. This strategic move not only added additional lives under our management, but also doubled our independent provider network to 3,500, inheriting a proud 25-year heritage from Enablemed.
Today, National HealthCare Group stands at the forefront of transformative healthcare in South Africa.
The integration of Enablemed in October 2019 brought an additional 12,000 beneficiaries into the National HealthCare fold. From there, we continued on an impressive growth trajectory, reaching more than 30,000 lives serviced by a healthcare provider network of well over 12,000.
We pioneered groundbreaking primary healthcare solutions tailored for the affordable quality healthcare segment from the outset. When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, we introduced a mobile communications and chat commerce service, dramatically reducing the cost of primary healthcare coverage while reinforcing accessibility during critical times.
Evolving from a vision in 2017 to a powerhouse in 2024, we champion accessible healthcare for all South Africans, a testament to unwavering dedication. Positioned to make a tangible difference, we respond to rising demand by lowering healthcare costs and expanding access, reflecting our commitment to a comprehensive full-risk transfer model.
